Unfortunately, a $150 Billion investment in the development of solar, wind and geothermal will do little to reduce our dependence on offshore oil? Why? Solar, wind and geothermal energy produce electricity. Little electricity is generated by oil energy. Most is produced by coal, nuclear, hydroelectric, etc. By far the largest area of consumption for oil is through transportation, both business and consumer transportation via cars, trucks, airplanes, ships, trains, and boats.

The problem in any talk talk about cutting emissions by 80% below 1990 levels is O'bama and others don't take in account that America's population is expected to increase by up to 139 million by 2050. Thus the population will be 113% of the population of the late 20th century and he is talking about cutting emissions by 80% of the 1990 levels. The challenge would be formidable enough if there was no population growth. O'bama and other politicians should be asked hard questions on how they will accomplish these amazing feats.

Obama also supports Cap & Trade to cut emission 80% below 1990 levels by 2020, raising automobile standards to 40mpg for cars and 32mpg for small trucks by 2020, getting 30% of our national energy from renewable resources by 2020, to have 60 billion gallons of biofuel produced each year in the USA by 2030, supports clean coal only if 20% cleaner then current methods, and supports nuclear power
